Healing by Beverages - Drinks

Prophet's Guidance on Beverages / Drinks

Honey & water
Habits / choices of Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam regarding beverages were the most beneficial for preserving the health. Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam used to drink honey with cold water, and this is an especially effective method to preserve the health that only the best doctors could have knowledge of. Drinking honey on an empty stomach will dissolve phlegm, purify the stomach’s protective layers and dissipate its viscidity and excrements while heating it mildly. Honey helps against the clogs in stomach, kidney, liver and prostate. Honey is much more profitable to the stomach than any other sweet.

We should state that honey might harm those suffering from bile, because it aggravates it. In this case, the harmful side effect of honey is neutralized when taking it with vinegar, as this method makes the honey very beneficial. In addition, honey is much more preferable than any other sugar based drink, especially for those who are not used to these types of sweet drinks. When one takes sweet drinks that he is not used to, he will not benefit as much as he will from honey, as this is the role that one's customs play. Customs remove foundations & establish foundations.

When the drink is both sweet & cold, it will be most beneficial for the body and one of the best methods to preserve its health and well-being of the soul, strength, liver & the heart. When a drink is both cold & sweet, the body will be eager for it (nutrition wise), will quickly digest and transfer it to other organs.

Allah Said in Quran:

"And We Have Made from water every living thing". (Surah Ambiaa ~ verse # 30)

Cold water
Cold water is wet, quenches the thirst, preserves the moistures in the body, and regenerates the moistures that the body has lost, softens the food and helps transfer it through the veins quickly.

In short, when water is cold and mixed with a sweet substance, such as honey, raisins or dates, it will be one of the most beneficial substances that enter the body and will indeed preserve health. This is why the best drink to Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam was cold and sweet. Warm water begets flatulence and is not favorable for the body or the health.

Since water that is kept overnight is more favorable than recently drawn water, Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam said when he entered the garden of Abu At-Taihan:

"Do you have any water that was kept in its skin overnight?"

He was brought some of that water and he drank from it. [Abu Dawood, Ibn Majah].

This Hadith was collected by Bukhari, who narrated that our beloved Prophet said: "If you have some water still in its skin, then bring me some, otherwise we will sip from the well".

When water is soaked overnight, its earthly and sandy pollutants will rest in the bottom. It was mentioned that Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam liked kept water, as Aishah Radi Allaho Anha said:

"Fresh water was being brought to the Messenger of Allah (Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam) drawn from the well designated for drinking".

Water that is kept in skins, especially leather skins, has a better taste than water kept in clay containers; this is why our beloved Prophet asked for the water that was kept in skins rather than other types of pots. When water is kept in skin, it will filter through the pores [thus making the taste better].

Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam had the best methods, the most honorable soul & the best guidance in every manner. He has shown his Ummah (nation) the most beneficial methods and means concerning the benefit of their hearts and bodies in this life & the next life (Aakhirah).

Soaked water
Aishah Radi Allaho Anha said that the best type of drink loved by Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam was cold & sweet. This statement might indicate that the drinks of Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam contained fresh, sweet water drawn from wells & springs. Her statement might indicate that Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam used to drink water that mixed with honey or soaked dates / raisins, or her statement could carry both meanings, which is the correct opinion.

Drinking while sitting
Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam guided his Ummah (nation) to drink while sitting down. He specifically commanded his Ummah not to drink while standing up, & he ordered those who drink while standing to vomit, yet he did drink while standing (at very few occasions) as is correctly reported of him.

Some people said that our beloved Prophet's drinking while standing only demonstrates that this practice is only disliked not prohibited. Another group said that there is no contradiction between the two Ahadeeth. ProphetMuhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam drank while standing when he needed to do so, as he came to the well of ZamZam and was given a bucket of water; from which he drank while standing.

Drinking while standing begets many ailments and does not quench the thirst, nor will the water settle in the stomach so that the liver transforms it to the rest of the body. In this case, water will descend quickly so the stomach and will aggravate it, and the water will not be digested properly. However, if one does this occasionally, it will not harm him.

Drinking water in 3 separate breaths

Sahih Muslim narrated that Anas Radi Allaho Anh said that Messenger of Allah (Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam) used to sip water in three separate breaths and would say: "This method quenches the thirst better and is more palatable and sanitary".

This Hadith indicates that Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam used to remove the cup away from his mouth, take a breath and then drink some more. In another Hadith, Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam commanded that one should not breathe in the cup, but should move the cup away from his mouth and breathe away from it. This method of drinking is very beneficial for quenching the thirst and more sanitary as our beloved Prophet has stated. When water enters the hot thirsty stomach in intervals, the second sip of water will quench the thirst left by the first, and the third will quench the thirst left by the first two. In addition, this method it better suited for the temperature of the stomach, so as not to suddenly invade it with cold substances. When a person drinks water in a single breath, it will only partially quench the thirst unlike when he drinks it in separate sips.

This method gives better results than drinking the water or liquids in one breath, since water might dissipate the instinctive heat or weaken it, thus spoiling the temperament of stomach and the liver.

Our beloved Prophet's statement, "It quenches the thirst better and is more palatable and sanitary" is similar to what ALLAH Said:

"And enjoy it without fear of any harm". (4:4)

In addition, when one takes the drink in one breath, he might choke on it because of the large amount of liquid. However, there is no fear from choking when one takes a breath while drinking. Furthermore, when one takes a drink, hot gases accumulating in his body will ascend from around the liver and the heart because of the cold water or liquid that is descending on the stomach. In this case, water will come rushing down while the gases are ascending, causing flatulence and sometimes choking the person. One will not enjoy the drink in this case.

When cold water descends suddenly on the liver, it will weaken it and cause a decrease in its temperature. However, when one takes the drink in separate sips, the liver will not lose its warmth and thus will not weaken. Similarly, when one (slowly) pours water on a boiling pot, it will not decrease its temperature significantly.

Tirmizi narrated that the Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam said: "Do not drink in one breath just as the carnal does. Rather drink twice & thrice, and mention Allah's Name before drinking and thank Him upon finishing".

Mentioning Allah's Name before drinking and thanking Him upon finishing has a significant effect in benefiting from the drink, enjoying it while fending off its harm. Imam Ahmed said "When the food has four qualities, it will become perfect; when Allah's Name is mentioned before having it, when Allah is Thanked after finishing the food, when there are many hands to eat from it and when it is from legal & pure sources".

Covering Pots and closing water skins

Muslim narrated in his Sahih that Jabir bin Abdullah Radi Allaho Anh said, I heard the Messenger of Allah Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam saying; "Cover the pots and tie the knot of water skins, for there is a day during the year in which a disease descends and falls in whatever pot that is not covered, or water skin which is not tied".

This Hadith contains a type of divine knowledge which doctors could never reach on their own.

Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam commanded that the pots should be covered, even with a branch, so that one makes (covering) it a habit. When one covers the pot with a branch, crawling insects will not fall in the food but would pass over it on the branch.

Furthermore, Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam commanded that we mention Allah's Name when covering the pot to repel Sheytaan, insects and animals.

Drinking from the mouth of the water skin is not allowed

Bukhari narrated that Ibn Abbas Radi Allaho Anh said:
"The Messenger of Allah Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam disallowed drinking from mouth of the water skin".

There are many benefits in this Hadith. For instance, when one drinks from the tip or the mouth of the water skin, he will breathe in it and will give it an offensive odour. In addition, water may descend strongly and harm the stomach. Furthermore, there might be an insect in the water that one is unaware of, and that might harm him if he swallows it. Water might be polluted with harmful substances that will enter the person's stomach while he is unaware. Drinking from the mouth of the skin fills the stomach with air and thus the water will not have sufficient space.

Drinking from a chipped cup is not allowed

Abu Dawood narrated in his Sunan that Abu Said Al-Khudri said:
"The Messenger of Allah Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam disallowed drinking from the chipped side of the cup and from breathing in the drink".

This Hadith teaches the Muslims many types of good behaviors, for instance, drinking from the chipped side of the cup might cause one to swallow the substances that have accumulated near the chipped side. In addition, one might not be able to enjoy his drink when he is drinking from the cup’s chipped side. Dirt and fat concentrate near the chipped side and are usually not fully cleaned when rinsed. Furthermore, chipped side of the cup is the worst and is not beneficial. One of our friends saw a man once buying inferior goods and said to him, "Do not buy it, do you not know that Allah Has not Blessed inferior things"? In addition, the chipped side of the cup might cause injury to the mouth.

As for breathing in the cup, it will transfer the foul odor from the person to the drink. This is why our beloved Prophet has disallowed breathing or blowing in it. In the Hadith that Tirmizi narrated, Ibn-e-Abbas Radi Allaho Anh said:

"The Messenger of Allah (Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam) prohibited breathing in the pot (cup) or blowing on it".

If someone asks, what about the Hadith in Sahihain narrated by Anas Radi Allaho Anh as

"The Messenger of Allah (Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam) used to take three breaths while drinking".

We believe in this Hadith; and that it does not contradict with the Ahadeeth which we mentioned earlier, because it only means that Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam did not sip the drink in one breath.

Prophet (Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam) drank milk undiluted or mixed with water

Drinking sweet milk in hot areas is very beneficial in preserving the health and providing moisture for the body and the liver. This is especially the case when the animals that produce the milk have grazed on worm wood, lavender, lavender cotton, and so forth, because their milk is both a food and a medicine.

Tirmizi narrated that Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam said:
"When any of you eats food, let him say 'O Allah! Bless it for us and give us what is better than it'. But when someone is given milk, let him say 'O Allah! Bless it for us and give us more of it. Certainly, milk is the only food or drink that is sufficient".

Furthermore, Muslim narrated:

"The Messenger of Allah (Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam) liked Nabeez (some dates soaked in water) to be made in the beginning of the night and would drink it in the morning of the next day, the next night and the next day, and another night, and the next day until ASR. If any of it remained, he would then order that it should be thrown away".

Nabeez mentioned in this Hadith is the drink that is made with dates that are soaked in water; to sweeten the water and it is used both in drinks and foods. Nabeez has a great benefit in strengthening the body and preserving the health. Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam did not drink the Nabeez that was more than three days old; fearing that it might have started to decompose and become intoxicating.

Healing by HIJAAB for women

Hijaab is Allah's Protection for a woman; it is the obligation that is compulsory for 24 hours. And along with modesty, safety & respect, Hijaab also brings healing & Shifa. For a Muslimah, there will be no health without Hijaab. The disease will enter her body with the evil eyes of men, & in the times of Fitnah today when Fawaahish have spread everywhere, women should be more careful & conscious.

These days, Muslims have different concepts for Hijaab, especially the Hijaab of face.

Mufti Shafi Sahib has explained this issue so perfectly & the reference below is taken from his Tafseer "Ma'arif-ul-Quraan" for Surah Ahzaab ~ verses 53 ~ 55.

Hafiz Abu Nu'aim narrated in his book that Anas Radi Allaho Anh reported that Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam asked his Sahabah "What is the best for women?"

No one could tell the appropriate answer, so Ali Bin Abi Talib Radi Allaho Anh went to Fatimah Radi Allaho Anha & asked her the same question.

She said that why you did not say that "THE BEST FOR women is that neither they watch men, nor are watched by them".

Ali Bin Abi Talib Radi Allaho Anh returned to Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe and told him the answer and our beloved Prophet asked "Who told you this"? Ali Bin Abi Talib Radi Allaho Anh said "Fatimah". Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe said "Fatimah (her knowledge & understanding) of course is a part of me".

Saum ~ Fasting

Fasting is a shield from many illnesses of the soul, the heart and the body and has tremendous benefits. Fasting also preserves the health and rids the body of harmful substances while preventing it from consuming what might harm it, especially when one fasts in the best times that the religion Islam states or when the body needs it. Fasting relieves the muscles and the rest of the body and ensures regenerating its strength. Fasting also has a characteristic that should make one eagerly prefer it, that is, bringing joy and relief to the heart sooner or later (i.e. on the Last Day ~ Qiyamah). Fasting is the best resort for those suffering from excess bodily moistures and substances and also protects and preserves their health.

Fasting is a type of spiritual and physical remedy. When the fasting person observes various rulings and guidelines regarding the Fast, his heart and body will benefit from the Fast the most. Also, the body will get rid of the harmful foreign substances that his body is susceptible to receive, along with getting rid of the harmful substances that have already penetrated the body. The Fast also helps the fasting person to stay away from what he is supposed to avoid and to implement and seek the goals behind the Fast and what it is supposed to achieve for him. Fasting does not only entail abstaining from food and drink; there is another goal that fasting seeks to achieve which made it an act that Allah will specify its reward [only on the Day of Judgment]. The Fast is also a shield between the slave and what might harm his body and soul sooner or later, and this is why Allah Said,

"O you who believe! observing As-Saum (the fasting) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqoon (the pious).’
(2:183)

Fasting is a shield and a protection, making it a type of tremendously beneficial diet. Another goal that the Fast seeks to achieve is the heart being busy with Allah, thus enlisting and recruiting the various powers of the body to implement what Allah Loves and the requirements of worshiping Him.

SALAAT ~ Prayer

And seek help in patience and As-Salaat (the prayer) and truly, it is extremely heavy and hard except for Al-Khashi'een (i.e. the true believers in Allah — those who obey Allah with full submission, fear much from His punishment, and believe in His Promise (Paradise) and in His Warnings (Hell). (2:45)

وقال‏:‏ ‏{‏يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ اسْتَعِينُواْ بِالصَّبْرِ وَالصَّلاَةِ إنَّ اللهَ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ‏}

"O you who believe! Seek help in patience and As-Salaat (the prayer). Truly, Allah is with As-Sabirun (the patient)". (2:153)

Furthermore, Allah Said,

"And enjoin As-Salaat (the prayer) on your family, and be patient in offering them (i.e. the Salaat (prayers)). We ask not of you a provision (i.e. to give Us something: money): We provide for you. And the good end (i.e. Paradise) is for the Muttaqoon (the pious). (20:132)

Furthermore, in the Sunan, it is narrated:

"Whenever the Messenger of Allah Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam would be concerned about a matter, he would turn to prayer".

The prayer (Salaat) brings about sustenance, preserves the health, discards harm, eradicates illness, strengthens the heart, radiates the face with light, brings joy to the soul and dissipates laziness. Also, the prayer energizes the limbs, sustains power, opens the chest, nourishes the soul, brings light to the heart, protects the bounty, shields from the anger (of Allah), brings about blessings, takes one away from Sheytaan (Satan) and draws him closer to the Most Beneficent.

In general, the prayer has a profound effect in preserving the heath of the body and the heart. The prayer also discards harmful substances. No two persons would catch a type of disease or suffer an affliction, but whoever prays among them would suffer the minimal effects of the illness or the affliction.

The prayer has a profoundly wonderful effect in repelling the evils of this life; especially when the prayer is given its due right inwardly and outwardly. Certainly, the evils of this life and the Next Life would be most effectively repelled while their good would be most effectively brought forth through prayer. The secret in this is that the prayer is the connection with Allah. The closer the connection is between the slave and his Lord, the more open the doors of all types of good will be for the slave, while closing the ways to evil. In this case, the tools of success will descend on the slave from his Lord, along with good health, many bounties and riches, comfort, delight, joy, happiness and the good things of life

Healing by Sadaqah ~ Charity

Sadaqah ~ Charity

1 - From Abu Umamah -Radi Allaahu anhu-who said: the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- said: ‘Treat your sick by giving Sadaqah (charity).’

[Collected in Saheeh al-Jamia’ No. 3358 & declared Hasan by Albaani]

2 - From Ubadah bin Saamitt who said I heard the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- saying: ‘There is no person who is afflicted with a wound on his body, and he gives charity due to that, then Allaah Expiates from him the like of what he gave in charity.

[Collected by Ahmad &
Albaani declared it to have an authentic Isnaad in Saheehah No. 2273]

3 – A man asked Abdullaah bin al-Mubarak -Rahimullaah- about ulcers that had sprung out on his knee for about seven years, and he tried to treat it with various treatments, he had asked doctors but to no avail. So Ibn Mubarak said: ‘Go and dig a well in a place where people need water, indeed I hope that there springs up water there, and by that you stop bleeding.’  The man did that and Allaah Ta’ala Cured him.’

[Taken from: ‘Seerah ‘Alaam’ 8/407]

Al-Bayhaqi quoted a story of our Shaykh al-Haakim Abu Abdullaah -Rahimullaah- who was afflicted with ulcers on his face, and he had tried a number of treatments but they did not go away, and it remained like that for nearly a year.

He then asked the teacher, Imam Abu Uthmaan as-Sabooni to make Dua’ for him in one of his gatherings on Friday, so he made Dua’ and many of the people with him said Ameen.  When it came to the next Juma’ a woman came to the gathering and left a brief message saying that she had gone back home and exerted herself in making Dua’ for al-Haakim Abu Abdullaah that night, and that she had seen the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- in her sleep, and it was as if he was saying to her: tell Abu Abdullaah to distribute water amongst the Muslims.

I came with that message to al-Haakim, and he ordered that a watering place be built at the door of his home, when they had finished building it, he ordered for water to be poured into it and ice placed into that water, and then the people began drinking from that water.  Not a week had passed by, except that it was obvious that his health had been restored, and the ulcers had ceased. His face had become better than it was before, and he lived like that for a number of years.’

Albaani declared it to be Saheeh Maqtu, 1/p.568]

4 - Abu Tahir as-Silafee said in ‘Mua’jam as-Safr’: I heard Abu Hasan Ali bin Abu Bakr Ahmad bin Ali the scribe of al-Minzi in Damascus saying: I heard Abu Bakr al-Khabazi (d. 449 A.H.) in Nisaboor saying: I became sick with a very dangerous illness, and a righteous neighbor of mine saw me and said: ‘Utilize the saying of the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam-: ‘Treat your sick by giving Sadaqah (charity).’

It was summer time, and I bought many watermelons, and a group of poor people and children got together and ate them, then they raised their hands to Allaah –Azza wa Jal- and they made Dua’ for me to be cured.  I swear by Allaah I had not reach the morning except that I regained complete health from Allaah -Tabaraka wa Ta’ala.

[Seerah ‘Alaam 18/44, Tareekh al-Islaam]

5 - al-Barzali (d. 841 A.H.) said in his Fatwa (5/612): Ibn Rushd was asked about the saying of the Messenger of Allaah -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam-: ‘Treat your sick by giving Sadaqah (charity).’ Is it authentic or not? And what does it mean? And if a person becomes sick and treats his illness with all types of medicines and they did not benefit him, then what is the way of giving Sadaqah as a medicine?

He answered:

‘I do not remember this text (narration) in any of the authentic collections of narrations, however, if it is authentic, then the meaning is an encouragement to visit the sick, because it is from the obligatory rights from the Sunnah that it is upon a Muslim that he visit a Muslim if he becomes sick.

As for the saying ‘The Muslim is a brother of a Muslim, he encourages him to say the testification at the time of death, and he visits him when he is sick, and advises him when he is absent or if he has to testify.’ As for visiting him then this is a good deed, and every good deed is Sadaqah, since it has a connection with the sick person and visiting him brings happiness to him, and just like making Dua’. There is no doubt that there is hope that the Dua’ will be answered and he will be cured.  Therefore, it does benefit him as a type of medicine, due to the saying of the Messenger -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam-: ‘He who sent down the illness also sent down the treatment.’

Al-Barzali said: some of our shaykhs from al-Qarawan understood this to have an evident meaning, namely that if a person gives Sadaqah on behalf of the sick, and that he requests the person whom he gave Sadaqah to, to make Dua’ for the sick then it is hoped that he will be cured, due to the saying of the Messenger -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam-: ‘The supplication of one of you for his brother in his absence is answered.’

6 – ad-Dooree narrated in ‘Tareekh’ and al-Bayhaqi in ‘Shu’ab al-Eemaan’ from Ibraheem an-Nakhai who said: ‘that the Companions used to regard giving Sadaqah as a means of repelling oppression.’

7 – From Hudayfah -Radi Allaahu anhu- that the Prophet -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- said:

‘A fitnah (trail) which a man faces with regard to his family, his wealth, his own self, his son and his neighbor is expiated by fasting, prayer, charity, enjoining good and forbidding evil.’
[Collected by Bukhari & Muslim]

8 – Shamsuddeen Muhammad bin Abee Bakr Ibn Qayyim aj-Jawzeeyah (d.751 A.H.) -Rahimullaah- said:

‘Indeed Sadaqah has an amazing effect in repelling different types of trials and tribulations, even if the charity was given by an evil person, or an oppressive person, in fact even if it was given by a non-Muslim! Indeed Allaah Ta’ala repels different types of trials and tribulations due to giving Sadaqah.  This is a matter which is well-known to the scholars and the general folk, and all of the people on the earth can associate with this fact because they have experienced it.’

9 – Shamsuddeen Muhammad bin Abee Bakr Ibn Qayyim aj-Jawzeeyah (d.751 A.H.) -Rahimullaah- said:

‘There are types of medicines which can treat illnesses which the minds of the senior doctors cannot comprehend, and that which their sciences, experiences and measurements cannot reach. These are the medicines of the heart and soul, and the strength of the heart, its dependence upon Allaah and trust upon Him and seeking refuge in Him. Prostrating and feeling in dire need of Allaah and humbling oneself for Allaah. Likewise giving Sadaqah (charity), making Dua’, repentance and seeking forgiveness, being good to the creation, aiding the distressed and liberating from grief and unhappiness.

Indeed these types of medication have been used by various nations, who are upon different religions and communities, and they found that they had an effect in the treatment of illnesses, which even the sciences of the most knowledgeable doctors could not reach, and they have no experience nor measurement of it. We have indeed experienced these matters a great deal and as others have, and we have seen what ordinary medicine can and cannot do.’

Healing by Fatihah-al-Kitaab

Healing Through Prophetic Medicine in Islam

Healing by Deeds

فاتــحــة الكــتاب / Fatihah-al-Kitaab

Fatihah-Al-Kitaab (First Chapter in the Qur’an)

Fatihah is the mother of Quran, the seven frequently recited versus that Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam was given and the ultimate cure and beneficial remedy that contains the prefect Ruqyah, Islamic prayer formula. Fatihah is the key to acquiring the richness, success and strength. Fatihah removes sadness, depression, anguish and fear. Only those who appreciate the value of Fatihah and give it its due consideration, reciting it as it should be recited and knowing the secret of its value as a medicine and as a cure, will acquire such bounties.

One of the Sahabah (Companions) of Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam unveiled few of the secrets of Fatihah, when he used it as a Ruqyah for scorpion stings. The affected person was instantly cured and Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam asked the Companion:

"How did you know that it is a cure"?

They are successful ones who uncover some of the secrets of Fatihah and what it contains of Tauheed, knowing Allah and His Names, Attributes, Actions and Decisions. They are the true believers who acquire knowledge of what the Fatihah contains of affirming the religion, Predestination, Resurrection, Allah's Oneness in worship and in Lordship and trusting and depending on He Who Owns all affairs, the praise and all pure things and to Whom everything must return; those who acquire the habit of showing meekness to Allah; seeking correct guidance which is the basis of the ultimate happiness in this and Aakhirah (the Next Life). Those who acquire knowledge in the connection between the meanings contained in Fatihah, and acquiring the good and fending off the harm of both lives. Those who understand that their ultimate well-being and receiving the perfect Favor of Allah are all linked to implementing these meanings. It is they who will be able to substitute the Fatihah in place of many medicines and use it as an Islamic prayer formula (Ruqyah) and will use it to open the doors of goodness and drive away the elements of evil.

Understanding this subject requires a new nature, a new heart and a new type of Faith. By Allah, You will not find any evil statement or misguiding innovation, but the Fatihah will contain what nullifies and refutes it with the best, most correct and most direct manner. In addition, you will not find a door that leads to acquiring divine knowledge, correct guidance of the heart and the remedy of the soul against its ills, but that the Fatihah will possess its key and the method to best use it. Finally, you will not find a path on which those who seek the Lord of the Worlds are passing, but you will find the Fatihah in its beginning and the end.

By Allah, The Fatihah is much more important than what we have emphasized. The slave, who holds fast to the Fatihah comprehends it in the proper manner, relies on it as a perfect remedy, a shield, immunity, and as a light of guidance. He understands its implications as they should be understood. It is he who will not fall into an innovation, or Shirk, or catch an ailment in the heart except briefly.

Fatihah is the ultimate key for treasures of the earth and Paradise as well. But not every person knows how to use this key; so as to have access to these treasures. If those who seek these treasures were able to uncover the secrets of this chapter [in the Quran] and acquire knowledge of its implications, they would add teeth to the key and would have easy access to these treasures.

We are certain of the statements that we have asserted herein because they are true. Allah Has Perfect Wisdom in hiding the secrets (of Fatihah) from the hearts of the majority of mankind, just as He Has a perfect Wisdom in hiding the treasures of the earth from them.

The hidden treasures of the earth are surrounded by the devils that stand between humankind and these treasures. Only the good souls will be able to defeat these devils with True Faith, which is the weapon that the devils cannot withstand. However, the majority of the souls of mankind are not of this type (are not truly faithful). Therefore, they cannot resist the evil or defeat them to acquire their possessions for, "Whoever kills a combatant will have his possessions".
